Black Labrador Retriever Resin Wood Mini Tray Art, Handcrafted Black Timber Dog Catchall Dish, Sporting Dog Desk Decor & Wall Keepsake Gift

About this piece

The Story Behind the Piece Athletic, noble, and endlessly devoted, the Labrador Retriever stands as one of the most celebrated sporting companions in the world. This handcrafted wooden mini tray honors that proud heritage through an evocative, full-body silhouette portrait of a Black Lab stacked in classic show conformation. Standing tall with alert posture, a broad head, powerful chest, and iconic "otter tail" extended, this Lab captures the poise, strength, and quiet readiness of a premier working retriever. Set against a textured, sunlit field background of bright meadow greens and soft neutral path tones, the dramatic jet-black coat creates a striking graphic contrast. To elevate this portrait into a functional fine-art heirloom, the artwork is embedded beneath a thick, high-gloss pour of crystal-clear art resin. The liquid glass finish magnifies every contour of the dog's muscular build, enriches the vibrant greens of the background, and gives the piece an optical, three-dimensional depth. Framed in a sleek matte-black wooden tray featuring curved cutout side handles, this piece brings together sporting dog tradition and contemporary artisan craft, serving as a lasting tribute to man's loyal field partner. Valet Catchall Dish: Laid flat on an entryway console, vanity, or nightstand, the durable resin floor creates an elegant landing spot for keys, pocket knives, cufflinks, rings, or watch accessories. Artisanal Craftsmanship & How It’s Made Every tray is individually shaped, sealed, and poured by hand through a meticulous multi-step process prioritizing archival quality and longevity: Precision Woodworking: The tray frame is crafted from natural timber featuring clean mitered joins and smooth cutout side handles. It is hand-sanded to a satin texture and finished in an artisan matte-black wash that allows the subtle grain of the wood to remain visible while framing the art in a bold, modern border. Archival Art Preparation: The Labrador portrait is printed using professional-grade, fade-resistant pigment inks on heavy acid-free archival substrate, guaranteeing deep, rich blacks and radiant meadow greens that will not yellow or discolor over time. Mounting & Edge Sealing: The print is securely affixed to the interior baseboard and sealed around all perimeter edges, creating an airtight barrier that prevents edge-lifting or bubble release during the pour. Deep Resin Pour & Curing: High-clarity, UV-resistant epoxy casting resin is measured, blended, and poured into the well. The surface is treated with controlled heat to release all micro-bubbles, yielding a mirror-like finish. It cures over multiple days in a dust-free chamber to form an impermeable, rock-hard shield that protects the artwork against dust, moisture, and daily handling.
